On January 23, the Miami Heat secured the services of ex-Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier. As the Heat prepared to confront the Celtics on January 25, Jaylen Brown shared his perspective on his former teammate now being part of Boston’s rival team.
“I jestingly believe Terry has become a Miami native already, so the move certainly seems fitting,” Brown quipped in a statement to reporters, as reported by Celtics on NBC Sports Boston’s X account. “I’m genuinely happy for him. He seamlessly aligns with what their culture embodies – toughness, competitiveness, physicality, and that particular mindset. Playoff experience, in my opinion, holds significant value and can contribute significantly.”
Brown went on to provide more details on the qualities and contributions that Rozier brings to the Miami Heat.
“I’m confident they’ll see improvement. Terry’s athleticism, coupled with his playoff experience and overall skill set, I believe he’ll seamlessly integrate into the team,” Brown commented.
Highlighting their shared history, Brown and Rozier were teammates on the Celtics for three years from 2016 to 2019. During this period, they achieved notable success, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals twice and winning at least one playoff series each year.
Since departing from the Celtics, Rozier hasn’t participated in the playoffs, but given Miami’s championship aspirations, a return to postseason action could be in the cards for him.
