Travaris Robinson will not be the next defensive coordinator for Alabama. Following a weekend of significant developments, including Kalen DeBoer being hired to replace Nick Saban and Robinson’s departure for Georgia on Friday, reports emerged on Monday indicating that Robinson has decided to stay with Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Despite DeBoer’s strong pursuit, which involved extensive efforts by coaches, players, and recruits, Robinson opted to remain with Georgia after engaging in a lengthy interview with DeBoer on Sunday, as reported by ESPN and 247Sports.
Since Nick Saban’s retirement last week, Travaris Robinson, who has not made any public comments, made a notable change to his Twitter profile. He updated his profile photo to a mock-up of himself donning a Georgia sweatshirt and adjusted his bio to reflect his role as the defensive backs coach at UGA. This mirrors the position he held in Tuscaloosa since the 2022 season. Additionally, Robinson is set to become Kirby Smart’s co-defensive coordinator, succeeding Will Muschamp, who announced his decision to step down to an analyst position.
Kalen DeBoer, discussing the process of finalizing his coaching staff on Saturday, expressed confidence in the imminent developments. He mentioned, “I think it’ll happen, in some capacity, quicker here in the next day or so, the next 24 hours. I want to be very thorough, and the fine line with that is, as players are being sought after on our own roster, there’s less people to get in front of them. Working tirelessly to manage who we have here.”
