After the defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday night, Tyreek Hill, the star wide receiver of the Miami Dolphins, shared intriguing insights into how the Chiefs’ defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo, effectively impeded their passing game.
Hill’s comments should be seen as an opportunity to enhance the team’s offensive strategies during the upcoming offseason, particularly for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. In response to a query about the Chiefs’ defensive approach, Hill acknowledged, “They effectively disrupted us at the line of scrimmage. Spags instructs cornerbacks to focus on preventing deep passes, assuring them of safety support. The defensive backs, in turn, were directed to engage with our speedy receivers. The Chiefs possess physical cornerbacks adept at adhering to their techniques and playing fundamentally sound football.”
There is a void with the Dolphins passing attack. Yes, the speed of Hill and Jaylen Waddle are terrifying for opposing defenses but being physical at the line of scrimmage is a clear way to mitigate their game-breaking speed.
Now, that is easier said than done but it can be and has been done multiple times. Adding more size and strength is one way to combat this issue.
There was a rep in the game where CB L’Jarius Sneed used a hard press technique at the line of scrimmage and drove Hill into the ground. I will drop the tweet below.
