March Madness is now a few weeks past and the NCAA transfer portal has heated up for college basketball.
One team that has already been hit hard by the portal is the American Athletic Conference powerhouse Memphis Tigers who continue to see their roster depleted this offseason.
Memphis finished with a 29-6 record last season en route to winning the AAC championship and entering the tournament as a five seed.
Of course, it was not the tournament result head coach Penny Hardaway expected as the Tigers were upset by Colorado State in the first round.
After their disappointing ending, Memphis is now trying to replenish their roster with the Tigers losing at least three and possibly all five starters from last season.
On Thursday, the program received more terrible news as their superstar sophomore P.J. Haggerty announced that he is entering the transfer portal where he will become one of the top players on the move.
Haggerty finished his sophomore season in Memphis averaging 21.7 points, which ranked third in the country, to go along with 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range.
The 21-year-old guard was also named to the All-American second team and was also named the Player of the Year in the AAC.
With Haggerty now on the move, Hardaway and Memphis will have a tough time replacing him due to his dominance last season as they look to bounce back after their first-round upset in the tournament.
