FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Today, the New England Patriots have officially signed kicker Joey Slye. The terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
Slye, aged 28, has previously played for the Carolina Panthers (2019-20), Houston Texans (2021), San Francisco 49ers (2021), and Washington Commanders (2021-23). Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 213 pounds, he initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent from Virginia Tech with the New York Giants in 2019. After being released by the Giants during training camp in 2019, he joined the Carolina Panthers on August 1, 2019. Slye was released by Carolina after training camp in 2021 and then played with Houston, San Francisco, and Washington during that season. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an unrestricted free agent from Washington on March 18, 2024, but was subsequently released by Jacksonville on April 30, 2024.
In his career, Slye has appeared in 78 regular season games, making 121 out of 147 field goals and 138 out of 156 extra points. Last season, he played in all 17 games, going 19-of-24 on field goals and 32-of-35 on extra points for Washington. Notably, Slye set a career-long and franchise record with a 61-yard field goal against Philadelphia on October 29, 2023.
