The Ole Miss Rebels men’s basketball team did not have a good outing against the Auburn Tigers last month, but football head coach Lane Kiffin is rooting for a turnaround on Saturday night. Although the Rebels lost on the hardwood to Auburn 82-59 in their first meeting, Kiffin wants Ole Miss to “beat Auburn again” this weekend, a reference to his team’s football win over the Tigers in 2023. The coach shared a photo of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday morning with the message, and you can view the post here.
“What an amazing day to beat Auburn again @OleMiss,” Kiffin wrote. The football win over Auburn this season marked back-to-back wins for the Rebels in the series, and it was part of one of the best campaigns in school history. Ole Miss secured an 11-win season for the first time in program history in 2023, including a 28-21 win over the Tigers on The Plains. What made the win even sweeter for Ole Miss was the fact that former Rebels head coach Hugh Freeze now leads the Auburn program, and the Rebels have not been shy about trolling Freeze on social media in recent months.
Tip-off between Ole Miss and Auburn is set for 5 p.m. CT on Saturday, and you can read our preview of the action here.
