On Thursday, 3-star running back Daniel Anderson announced he is no longer committed to Notre Dame’s 2025 football recruiting class.
Anderson was among the first to pledge to the Irish and part of a wave of talent from southern states, an area not typically associated with Notre Dame recruits.
Now, just as quickly as those commitments arrived, they’re leaving.
Reports from various Notre Dame sources suggest this was a mutual decision between Anderson and the Irish. It makes sense all around — Anderson is a talented player and seems like a great person, but there are likely better fits for both sides. This is the cleanest way to handle the messy process of building a roster.

Notre Dame’s recruiting class is now down to 21 players. As the early signing period in December approaches, we can expect the Irish to aggressively pursue several new targets, potentially including prospects already committed elsewhere.
