The Georgia Bulldogs dedicated extensive efforts to secure the nation’s top recruiting class for the 2024 cycle, addressing various needs on the roster. Special attention was given to special teams, and they successfully recruited Drew Miller, the country’s premier punter, from Mediaopolis (Iowa). Miller, who had offers from NC State and Iowa State, ultimately chose Georgia.
Drew Miller, ranked as the top punter on 247Sports, showcased his skills in senior highlights. With a net punt average of 47.33 yards on 30 punts during his senior season, Miller proved his prowess. Impressively, 17 of his punts landed inside the 20-yard line, while 12 found placement inside the 10-yard line. Remarkably, he allowed only 5 return yards. Miller earned MaxPreps All-American first-team honors for the third time in his high school career.
MaxPreps lauded Miller, describing him as the “top-rated punter” with an average of 49.5 yards per punt, and an impressive 55 percent landing inside the 20-yard line.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Drew Miller, entering his senior year, had an impressive junior season, averaging 48 yards per punt and recording touchbacks on 51 of his 55 kickoffs. According to Kohl’s Kicking, Miller holds the top spot as the nation’s No. 1 punter. In their evaluation from last year, they highlighted his outstanding performance at the 2022 National Invitational Scholarship Camp, where he showcased his skills as one of the top kicker/punter combos in the 2024 class. Miller earned a remarkable punt score of 111.95 and had previously excelled in field goal charts at the 2021 Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp, scoring 25 points and winning the field goal competition. His punting charting averaged 113.4 points with multiple punts exceeding 4.7 seconds of hang-time. Kohl’s praised Miller’s exceptional leg speed and power, emphasizing his status as one of the most exciting prospects in his class.
Chris Sailer Kicking ranks Miller as the No. 2 punter in the country, acknowledging his exceptional talent in both punting and kicking. Describing him as big, tall, strong, and athletic, they note his ability to punt for an impressive combination of distance and hang time, already showcasing a D1 level ball. Miller’s kicking skills include hitting a pure ball off the ground with a range of 50+ yards, and his kickoffs are noted for their strength. Sailer anticipates Miller’s continued development, expressing excitement about his potential and upside. Recognizing him as a significant dual-threat talent, Sailer looks forward to Miller’s performance at Vegas XXXIX in January, anticipating his challenge for a TOP 12 Camp Invitation. Overall, Miller is praised not only for his athletic abilities but also for being a fine young man and a pleasure to work with.
