The Minnesota Timberwolves have been eliminated from the playoffs after a disappointing season end. They are currently down three games against the Dallas Mavericks, and a sweep appears likely for a team that only emerged as a serious title contender this season.
However, there is a silver lining for the Timberwolves, as Anthony Edwards is eager to prove his critics wrong. Despite being contained in the past few games, even the Mavericks cannot deny that he is a phenomenal player capable of dominating if given the opportunity.
As the Timberwolves seek to extend the series, one of their key players has taken it upon himself to boost his teammate’s morale ahead of their do-or-die game against the Mavericks.
Rudy Gobert compares Anthony Edwards to Dwyane Wade as the Minnesota Timberwolves prepare for Game 4
Rudy Gobert spoke to the media before the crucial Game 4, which could end their season sooner than they would like.
While answering various questions, Gobert did not hold back in his praise for Edwards, even comparing him to Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade during his remarkable run against the Mavericks in 2006:

“We’ve got Ant, who’s 22, and Dwyane Wade won a championship at that age. (Wade) was the guy, but he was surrounded by some other veterans who helped him grow. I think that’s the way I feel about our team. Ant is not in his… pic.twitter.com/r1wSXDS0Qw

It might seem like an exaggeration to compare Edwards to a player of Wade’s stature, but he has already demonstrated that he can perform at that level. In this postseason alone, he has averaged 27.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.6 steals, shooting 48% from the field and 38.5% from three.
Although the Dallas Mavericks have managed to limit him so far, one exceptional game from Edwards could shift the momentum back in Minnesota’s favor. He has proven this against the Denver Nuggets, so there is no reason to doubt his ability to bring the Timberwolves back into contention.
